Mongolian Beef with a Smoky Steakhouse Twist

Mongolian Beef with a Smoky Steakhouse Twist

Using Smoky Syndicate Steakhouse Classic Dry Rub

Mongolian beef doesn’t need deep frying to taste amazing. With the right technique — and the right seasoning — you can get that same rich flavour and caramelised edges using just a pan.

This version uses our Smoky Syndicate Steakhouse Classic Dry Rub to create a bold, smoky crust while keeping the dish simple, fast, and less oily. Deeper flavour, better browning, and a rich, smoky finish you don’t usually get from a stir-fry.

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 300g beef (flank, sirloin, or ribeye), cubes
  • 1 tbsp Smoky Syndicate Steakhouse Classic Dry Rub
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1–2 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 carrot, sliced
  • 2 stalks spring onion
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil (for pan-frying)

Why This Method Works

  • Seasoning goes into the beef, not just the sauce
  • Better caramelisation when pan-frying
  • Smoky + savoury layers instead of just sweet soy

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Season the Beef

Slice beef into cubes.

Season with:

  • Steakhouse Classic Dry Rub
  • Salt & pepper
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • BBQ sauce

Mix well and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.

2. Pan-Fry Everything Together

Heat olive oil in a wide pan over medium-high heat.

Add:

  • Beef
  • Mushrooms
  • Carrots

Spread everything out and let it sear.

Pan-fry for 4–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until:

  • Beef is browned with slight charring
  • Mushrooms are softened
  • Carrots are tender with light caramelisation

3. Finish

Add spring onions and toss everything together.

Cook for another 1–2 minutes until everything is well coated and glossy from the sauces.

A Different Take on Mongolian Beef

This version focuses on simplicity and flavour — no layering, no complicated sauces.

Just one pan, strong seasoning, and a smoky steakhouse-style finish.
